Bolko with a friend and a Tatra enthusiast, Gary Cullen
For the Love of Car
AUTOHISTORIES.ORG is the creation of Boleslaw (Bolko) Rawicz, the culmination of a lifelong love affair with historical European automobiles. Started as a website in 1996 and expanded over the years, Auto Histories is a collection and repository of some of the more rare or eccentric vehicle brands missing in popular car histories, such as cult favourites Tatra and Citroen.
Born in Poland in 1972 and immigrating with his family to Canada in 1982, Bolko passed away on August 15, 2020. In his 47 years of life, Bolko pursued his passion for automobiles from a slight proximity, as he was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at age 5 and used a wheelchair for mobility. While visiting Francorchamps, Belgium as a child, Bolko saw the Formula #1 Races and first experienced the excitement of automotive motion. After a full lifetime, with visits to car museums, meets and concourses on several continents, with a Bachelor’s in Computing Science from Simon Fraser University under his belt, two poetry books published, and a community of friends and fans in his home base of Burnaby BC (Canada), Bolko left the world a beautiful and thoughtfully curated expression of his life’s passion in the web pages of AUTOHISTORIES.ORG
This new AUTO-HISTORIES.ORG sister website builds upon Bolko’s original work featuring additional photos and updated information from later sources. The continuation of Bolko’s vision owes much to the contributions of Malgosia Rawicz and Michael Mann. Updates include photos from his friend Gary Cullen, images captured during car meets with Gwen Haworth, caregivers, and parents, and materials from the Museum of Information and Technology in Kraków.
